ABOUT THE ROLE
We are searching for a Senior Group Account Manager to support and grow Halter across Mid Canterbury, South Canterbury, and North Otago, partnering with multi‑farm operators and their teams.
This is a chance to work with some of the most progressive farming businesses in the South Island, and to help multi‑farm operators unlock measurable outcomes across their farm portfolios.
You will be the primary partner for your farmers and their team. You will build deep, trust‑based relationships, make sure Halter is driving real business outcomes, and own retention, renewals, and growth across the farms.
This role is different from a typical Account Management role at Halter. Success will be driven by how well you coordinate across sites, align multiple stakeholders, and help farm owners and their teams make decisions consistently across their operations. This role does not sit with our corporate team and will work alongside our owner operator Account Management team.
Location note: This role is ideally based in Ashburton / Mid Canterbury. The rationale is to focus on multi‑farm operators clustered across Canterbury and North Otago, with efficient travel access across Mid Canterbury and down into North Otago. Frequent travel around the region is a core (and fun) part of the job.
WHAT YOUR DAY COULD LOOK LIKE
- Revenue retention & expansion
- Own the retention, renewals, and expansion for Halter’s existing revenue across your multi‑farm portfolio.
- Build and execute an expansion plan across farms within each parent organisation, including sequencing, stakeholders, timelines, and clear value outcomes.
- Multi‑farm account management
- Run a parent‑level account plan and ensure each farm within the group has clear goals, a success plan, and the right support.
- Maintain a single view of health, benchmarking and value across each farm group, while still being present and practical on each farm.
- Deployment & onboarding (at scale)
- Support onboarding, training, and implementation of the Halter system across multiple farms.
- Ensure owners, operations managers, and farm teams are set up for success.
- When multiple farms are onboarding at once, lead structured, high‑touch rollout days.
- Relationship building across stakeholders
- Build relationships from owners and decision makers through to farm operations managers and farm workers.
- Proactively cultivate genuine and trustworthy relationships with farmers, their teams, and families.
- Farmer success & outcomes
- Partner with customers to set clear business goals, timelines, priorities, and metrics of success at both farm and parent‑organisation level.
- Make sure Halter is driving outcomes across productivity, labour efficiency, and day‑to‑day execution.
- Problem solving & support
- Provide prompt and effective communication and support, helping customers navigate operational change and technical challenges with calm, practical leadership.
- Community & networking
- Represent the Halter brand with pride.
- Build strong local networks and help create community touchpoints (for example, discussion groups and local events).
- Customer advocate
- Act as the voice of the customer and bring context from the field to our product and wider Halter teams.
EXPERIENCE THAT HELPS YOU HIT THE GROUND RUNNING:
- Significant Account Management experience
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of accounts, driving renewals, and growing accounts through value delivery.
- Comfort owning commercial outcomes and navigating complex stakeholders.
- Deep farm systems knowledge
- Strong understanding of dairy and South Island farm operating rhythms.
- Practical knowledge of how decisions get made and implemented across farm teams.
- Ability to work across roles and levels
- You can work effectively with owners, farm operations managers, and farm workers.
- You bring structure and clarity, without losing the human connection.
- Ashburton based (preferred)
- You are based in Ashburton / Mid Canterbury, with the ability to travel frequently across Mid Canterbury, South Canterbury, and North Otago.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YOUR FIRST 12 MONTHS
- Strong, trusted relationships with the owners and teams across your farm groups
- 100% retention across your portfolio
- Clear expansion pathways identified across each parent organisation
- Measuring and proving Halter’s measurable impact on customer performance
WE’RE BACKING POTENTIAL OVER POLISH. THESE ARE THE TRAITS THAT MATTER MOST:
- A great human first
- You bring integrity, humility, and care.
- You do what you say you’ll do.
- You show up for your customers and teammates.
