About the Role
We are looking for an Engineering Lead to join HappyCo, a company focused on building mobile and cloud solutions for real-time property data. This hands-on leadership role will focus on technical direction, prioritization, and decision-making to deliver valuable software quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- →Lead a team of engineers across several products and codebases, breaking down work and driving delivery of high-quality solutions
- →Own technical direction and standards, driving a culture of automated testing and operational excellence
- →Address urgent customer needs by triaging and solving Support tickets
- →Partner with Product and Design to ensure the team works on the most valuable problems
- →Deliver functionality that is immediately useful and guide iterative improvements
- →Identify risks, technical debt, and architectural concerns early
- →Communicate clearly with stakeholders about scope, tradeoffs, and timelines
- →Lead sprint planning and daily technical discussions
Requirements
- ✓Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
- ✓5+ years experience with Go or Ruby on Rails, plus strong JavaScript/TypeScript experience
- ✓Proven ability to lead technical work across multiple systems in a startup environment
- ✓Strong product and customer intuition
- ✓Track record of shipping production software that customers actively use
- ✓Comfortable making tradeoffs to balance speed, quality, and scalability
- ✓Clear communicator who can align engineers, product managers, and stakeholders
