About the Role
We are looking for a Back End Engineer to join the Partner Tech team at iwoca. This role involves working on challenging projects across iwoca’s codebase to improve the experience for partners and partner-referred customers.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design and build backend systems using Python, ideally with Django or other web frameworks.
- →Work with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL, focusing on performance and maintainability.
- →Build and maintain APIs that are easy to use, reliable, and well-documented.
- →Manage projects end to end, from understanding business problems to delivering technical solutions.
- →Collaborate with other engineers to meet team goals while working independently on your part of the problem.
- →Design and maintain robust, flexible, and maintainable systems to ensure scalability and fast-paced development.
- →Deliver new functionality critical to onboarding important new partners.
- →Optimise the customer experience, leading to measurable improvements.
- →Leave code, docs, and processes in better shape than you found them.
Requirements
- ✓Proven track record in designing and building backend systems using Python.
- ✓Experience working with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL but open to MySQL or similar.
- ✓Experience building and maintaining APIs that are easy to use, reliable, and well-documented.
- ✓Experience managing projects end to end, from understanding business problems to designing and delivering technical solutions.
- ✓Pragmatism in balancing delivery speed with long-term system health.
