About the Role
Monarch is seeking an AI Engineer to design, build, and own features that help users understand and manage their finances through intelligent, personalized experiences. This role involves working across the full spectrum of AI development, from prompt engineering to building multi-agent systems and fine-tuning language models.
Key Responsibilities
- →Apply AI to real financial problems, helping users make sense of their money
- →Choose the right AI tools for each problem, balancing innovation with pragmatism
- →Ship AI features with confidence by leveraging and enhancing evaluation frameworks
- →Design test datasets, implement new scorers, and validate changes before they reach users
- →Collaborate closely with the AI Platform team on end-to-end feature quality and AI roadmap priorities
Requirements
- ✓5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years focused on building and operating production ML/AI systems
- ✓Proven track record of shipping LLM-powered features with expertise in prompt engineering, RAG systems, and evaluation techniques
- ✓Strong fundamentals in machine learning, including embeddings, similarity search, classification, and probabilistic reasoning
- ✓Experience building and using AI evaluation tooling
- ✓Excellent Python skills and a history of building production-grade AI features and services
- ✓Strong collaboration and communication skills with a sharp product sensibility
- ✓Strategic mindset for making build-vs-buy decisions and designing features for long-term reliability
