About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Principal Software Engineer to shape the future of lab software platforms powering high-throughput, regulated laboratory operations. This role involves defining technical direction across complex systems and leading the evolution of software applications that drive lab automation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

→Own and evolve the architecture of large-scale systems supporting lab automation and workflow orchestration
→Define and enforce architectural patterns for modular, distributed systems
→Make high-impact technical decisions balancing scalability, reliability, and regulatory constraints
→Establish engineering best practices across performance, observability, testing, and security
→Mentor senior engineers and managers through design reviews and technical guidance
→Drive adoption of Generative AI to improve developer productivity and software quality
→Lead the application of AI/ML capabilities to improve lab throughput and automation reliability
→Build and review robust backend services and modern frontend applications
→Design and operate systems on AWS with a focus on availability and security
→Partner with Product, UX, Scientists, and Lab Operations to translate workflows into scalable systems

Requirements

✓12-15+ years of experience in developing software applications
✓Proven experience with Python, Java, NextJS, and TypeScript
✓Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases
✓Proficiency in leveraging AWS services including Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, and S3
✓Proficiency in infrastructure as code and messaging frameworks like Kafka
✓Strong quality assurance mindset with a commitment to delivering reliable software
✓Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
