About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Platform Application Services team at Okta. In this role, you’ll lead the design, development, and evolution of core backend services and data pipelines that power developer productivity and platform reliability across Okta.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design, build, and maintain Golang-based backend services supporting critical platform capabilities.
- →Build and maintain Postgres-backed systems for performance, reliability, and scalability, including data pipelines and Change Data Capture (CDC) workflows.
- →Lead architectural discussions and technical decisions for new features and platform initiatives.
- →Identify and consolidate redundant tools and services to reduce complexity across teams.
- →Champion best practices in software design, observability, and operational excellence.
- →Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align on technical direction and deliver solutions that scale globally.
- →Provide mentorship, code reviews, and technical guidance to other engineers.
- →Participate in on-call rotation to maintain platform availability and reliability.
Requirements
- ✓4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing and maintaining distributed backend systems.
- ✓Proficiency in Golang and strong knowledge of backend development best practices.
- ✓Experience with Postgres, including schema design, query optimization, and operational management.
- ✓Hands-on experience designing and implementing data pipelines and Change Data Capture (CDC) systems.
- ✓Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery workflows.
- ✓Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, and systems design.
- ✓Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor others, and influence engineering direction.
- ✓Experience building resilient, high-availability services that operate at scale.
- ✓Excellent communication skills and a passion for sharing knowledge through documentation and collaboration.
