About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join OpenAI's Monetization team. This role involves building core mobile experiences that power user interactions with OpenAI's products, including account management, family features, payment systems, and safety mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities
- →Build and ship monetization experiences on Android, including plan selection, purchase flows, and subscription management
- →Design and maintain shared Android frameworks for account, trust, and commerce flows across OpenAI's mobile apps
- →Own complex Android systems end-to-end, including UI architecture, networking, local persistence, and release processes
- →Develop robust integrations with Android platform components like Google Play Billing and authentication
- →Optimize performance, reliability, and responsiveness at global scale
- →Establish and evolve testing and quality systems
- →Collaborate with Product, Design, Research, backend, and Safety teams
Requirements
- ✓4+ years of professional software engineering experience with Android
- ✓Track record of building high-quality Android applications, especially for reliability-sensitive flows
- ✓Fluency in Kotlin and familiarity with Android tooling and architecture
- ✓Experience with modern app architecture patterns and Jetpack Compose
- ✓Strong focus on performance, security, privacy, and user experience
- ✓Ability to thrive in greenfield environments where systems must be defined from scratch
