About the Role
We are looking for a Market Research Analyst to join OpenAI, where you will help anticipate market shifts, surface actionable insights, and inform strategy across products, launches, and go-to-market efforts. This role blends proactive market sensing with structured research, translating external signals into clear, decision-oriented recommendations for cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- →Build and maintain a structured view of key market signals across customers, developers, competitors, and platforms.
- →Identify emerging trends early and translate them into implications for OpenAI’s priorities, positioning, and product roadmap.
- →Develop repeatable approaches to market sensing that surface meaningful changes before they become obvious.
- →Track competitor activity including product launches, pricing and packaging, partnerships, developer programs, and ecosystem strategy.
- →Maintain market maps across segments, key players, routes to market, and evolving customer preferences.
- →Produce concise, decision-oriented briefs and readouts for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- ✓4+ years of experience in market research or a related field (technology experience preferred).
- ✓Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.
- ✓Comfort operating in ambiguity and building lightweight systems to create ongoing visibility.
- ✓Ability to communicate complex insights clearly and succinctly to cross-functional stakeholders.
- ✓Familiarity with developer ecosystems, AI/ML markets, or platform products.
- ✓Experience building dashboards or lightweight analytics views (e.g., Google Sheets, BI tools; basic scripting is a plus).
- ✓Comfortable working across Product, Go-to-Market, Marketing, Communications, and Strategy teams in fast-paced environments.
- ✓Strong judgment and prioritization skills, with a bias toward clarity and action.
