About the Role
The Answer Quality team at Perplexity ensures reliable, high-quality answers for millions of daily users through an LLM-first search engine and specialized data sources. As a Data Scientist/Engineer, you will derive online signals from user interactions to bridge the gap between answer quality changes and user behavior.
Key Responsibilities
- →Discover and validate online signals from user interactions as proxies for answer quality
- →Design and implement novel online metrics for A/B testing and product health dashboards
- →Analyze experimental results to validate metrics and predict user satisfaction
- →Build and maintain data pipelines for quality metrics at scale
- →Communicate findings through collaboration with Product and Search teams
- →Operate in a high-impact team shaping how Perplexity measures and improves Answer Quality
Requirements
- ✓MS in a technical field or equivalent experience
- ✓4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, Analytics Engineer, or related role
- ✓Experience with search, recommendation, or LLM-based products
- ✓Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
- ✓Deep knowledge of statistical analysis
- ✓Experience with Business Intelligence tools
- ✓Comfort with agentic coding workflows and AI-assisted development tools
