About the Role
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join the Cost Engineering Product Area at Spotify, focusing on driving sustainability through cost and climate intelligence. This role involves crafting and implementing data systems that power cost practices, enabling Spotify to optimize its cost and carbon footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design, implement, and evolve scalable, reliable data infrastructure for cost and carbon intelligence
- →Own end-to-end data pipelines for cloud cost, usage, and emissions data
- →Partner with Data Scientists, Engineering, Finance, and Procurement to translate analytical needs into data architectures
- →Set technical direction for data modeling, orchestration, testing, and observability
- →Build and maintain analytics-ready datasets for executive reporting and optimization
- →Ensure data accuracy and consistency for cost and emissions reporting
- →Identify opportunities to improve data platform scalability and cost efficiency
- →Mentor other engineers and act as a technical resource
- →Embed cost and climate awareness into decision-making across Spotify
Requirements
- ✓Strong track record of owning and operating production-critical data systems
- ✓Degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
- ✓Experience designing scalable data architectures
- ✓Ability to lead technical discussions and influence build decisions
- ✓Thrive in evolving environments with balancing speed and correctness
- ✓Strong communicator for both technical and non-technical audiences
- ✓Familiarity with financial, billing, or usage data
- ✓Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (GCP preferred)
- ✓Proficiency with Python, SQL, DBT, and modern orchestration frameworks
- ✓Experience with data processing frameworks like Spark, Flink, or Dataflow
