About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to join Stripe's Stream Infrastructure team. This role involves building and operating Stripe's real-time, event-driven platform that powers asynchronous communication between services and high-throughput streaming workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design, build, and operate event-driven infrastructure using technologies like Apache Kafka, Temporal, and AWS services
- →Collaborate with teams across Stripe to understand requirements and improve streaming infrastructure usage
- →Define and implement Kafka operational best practices to improve resilience and reliability at scale
- →Drive automation, standardized workflows, and self-healing systems to reduce manual operations
Requirements
- ✓10+ years of experience building, operating, and evolving large-scale production systems
- ✓Experience as a technical lead for teams working on distributed systems
- ✓Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Kafka, Pulsar, Flink, or Pinot
- ✓Ability to operate with high autonomy and ownership
- ✓Growth mindset with a willingness to learn quickly and explore ambiguous problem spaces
- ✓Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation
