About the Role
The Backend Infrastructure team at Thumbtack is seeking an engineer to establish clear ownership and investment in backend platform infrastructure. This role focuses on improving reliability, performance, and developer experience of Thumbtack’s backend platforms, starting with Go.
Key Responsibilities
- →Own the end-to-end health of Go build and verification pipelines
- →Define and implement consistent backend CI/CD failure visibility and debugging workflows
- →Improve local backend development and iteration workflows
- →Establish and enforce Go platform standards and documentation
- →Proactively improve shared Go codebases to reduce regression risk
- →Partner with Platform Engineering and other infrastructure teams
- →Act as a steward for the backend engineering community
Requirements
- ✓Experience owning and improving CI/CD systems for large codebases
- ✓Strong proficiency with Go and Go build/test workflows
- ✓Experience improving developer experience through tooling or platform standards
- ✓Ability to diagnose infrastructure reliability and performance issues
- ✓Experience working in shared ownership environments
- ✓Ability to deliver high-leverage improvements as an early team member
- ✓Comfort working on platform-oriented problems
