About the Role

We are looking for a Design Manager to oversee medium to large sized school projects in Los Angeles. This role involves managing the design activities for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects.

Key Responsibilities

→Plans, organizes, and directs design activities for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects
→Manages the District’s design process to ensure plans meet functional, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements
→Manages multiple projects through interaction with Architects, consultants, and District personnel
→Oversees the building design process to ensure compliance with LAUSD’s standards and guidelines
→Establishes and follows a process to identify and select the architectural firm best suited for each project
→Provides Architects with clear direction regarding goals, standards, site, schedule, and budget
→Establishes and follows an effective design review process to ensure designs meet project objectives
→Ensures timely decision-making and proper documentation of all project steps
→Reviews design changes to ensure the project remains within budget
→Recommends architectural firm assignments from a pre-qualified list
→Participates in community relations and outreach programs
→Coordinates project activities with various District organizational branches and departments
→Performs other duties as assigned
