About the Role
We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join Wayve’s Evaluation Tools team. This role focuses on building model introspection capabilities to accelerate the development and shipping of our AI Driver. You’ll design and productionize tools that reveal how our end-to-end driving models make decisions, enabling faster debugging and more confident releases.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design and implement model introspection methods tailored to our end-to-end driving models
- →Productionize and scale introspection tooling, integrating it into evaluation, triage, and root-cause workflows
- →Partner with Autonomy and Science teams to identify the most informative internal representations for debugging
- →Collaborate with Measurement and Simulation to use introspection signals to better predict on-road performance
- →Build intuitive tools and interfaces that make complex model behavior accessible and actionable
- →Rapidly prototype and iterate on new interpretability approaches as model architectures evolve
- →Own the roadmap for introspection capabilities, balancing quick wins with long-term strategic impact
Requirements
- ✓Strong hands-on experience with model introspection/interpretability techniques
- ✓Deep ML fundamentals with experience building and training deep learning models in modern frameworks
- ✓Proven ability to productionize research ideas into reliable, scalable tools
- ✓Strong software engineering skills — clean, maintainable code, testing, version control, and performance awareness
- ✓Ability to translate complex model behavior into clear, actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholders
