About the Role
The Linguist performs quality control tasks and on-demand translation and copy edit tasks, taking on linguistic lead functions on assigned accounts/projects. This role coordinates the activities of a group of translators, trains and develops freelancers, and ensures high-quality work within deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- →Perform entertainment, marketing, PR and Life Sciences translations and reviews (English to German)
- →Perform copy edit tasks on assigned projects or accounts (English to German)
- →Provide lead support on assigned projects or accounts
- →Manage and maintain language materials including glossaries, Style Guides, and work instructions
- →Conduct research to ensure the best quality of delivery
- →Master tools associated with translation work
- →Interact with clients on linguistic matters as required
- →Participate in the development of new working processes
- →Train internal linguists and freelancers
Requirements
- ✓Native fluency in German
- ✓Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
- ✓3+ years experience in Translation/Localization of marketing & Life Sciences content
- ✓University degree in Translation/Applied Languages or equivalent
- ✓Thorough understanding of the localization process
- ✓Experience with CAT tools like XTM, SDL Studio, and JIRA
- ✓Ability to present information effectively to groups
- ✓Passion for German popular culture and entertainment industry
- ✓Ability to learn new localization tools quickly
- ✓Excellent communication skills
- ✓Ability to work with tight deadlines
- ✓Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback
- ✓Ability to train and teach others
