About the Role
We are looking for a Back End Engineer to join Wise, where you'll architect mission-critical systems that handle massive volumes of money movement globally. This role focuses on building resilient, distributed systems that ensure fast, fail-safe financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- βArchitect and maintain scalable microservices (primarily in Java/Spring Boot) capable of handling billions in monthly volume with zero downtime
- βDevelop logic to handle real-world constraints like bank-specific API quirks, holiday schedules, and regional settlement cut-offs
- βBuild and optimize data infrastructure ensuring complete money movement accounting
- βDesign robust REST APIs for the Front End team
- βOptimize database queries and message-driven architectures (Kafka/RabbitMQ) for system scaling
Requirements
- βExperience with Java/Spring Boot for microservices development
- βStrong understanding of distributed systems and high-availability architectures
- βKnowledge of message-driven architectures using Kafka or RabbitMQ
- βExperience with REST API design and integration
- βDatabase optimization and query performance expertise
- βAbility to handle complex financial data models and reconciliation
