About the Role A global travel and cruise operator needs a Data Engineer to build a solid data foundation for both BI and AI/ML applications. This is a long-term, full-time contractor role that is 100% remote. Key Responsibilities • Design and maintain scalable data solutions on the Azure Data Platform: Synapse, Databricks and Data Lakehouse • Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines with Python, SQL and Apache Spark • Develop Databricks workflows, Delta Live Tables and metadata-driven frameworks • Drive platform modernization, including Unity Catalog adoption • Troubleshoot production incidents, run root cause analysis and cut processing costs • Mentor teammates and share knowledge across the team Requirements • Strong Azure skills (Databricks, Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse, Data Explorer), CI/CD with Azure DevOps, Power BI • Solid grasp of Lakehouse architecture, hands-on with DLT and Unity Catalog • High ownership, pragmatic decisions with incomplete requirements, comfortable in "controlled chaos" • English at B2+ or above
