About the Role We are seeking a Java Backend Developer for a 12+ month contract position in New York City. This role requires local candidates and involves developing robust backend systems and REST APIs. Key Responsibilities • Develop and maintain backend services using modern Java • Design and implement RESTful APIs • Work with databases including MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and Redis • Implement event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka • Utilize Docker for containerization and GitHub Actions for CI/CD • Ensure API security and authentication • Perform automated testing, performance optimization, and production monitoring Requirements • Strong hands-on experience with modern Java and backend development • Experience developing REST APIs and backend services • Working knowledge of TypeScript and Python • Experience with MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, and Redis • Familiarity with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture • Hands-on experience with Docker • Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines • Knowledge of microservices architecture, API security, and authentication • Experience with automated testing, performance optimization, and production monitoring • Familiarity with cloud platforms and Agile/Scrum methodologies • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills
