About the Role We are seeking a Java Developer to join the State of Wisconsin team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Java/Spring Boot applications and Angular-based front-end applications. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop and maintain scalable Java/Spring Boot applications • Build and maintain Angular-based front-end applications • Develop and document RESTful APIs using Spring Boot and OpenAPI • Implement messaging and caching solutions using Kafka and Redis • Perform unit testing, code coverage and automation using JUnit and Playwright • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in code reviews • Troubleshoot application issues and ensure performance and reliability • Leverage AI tools and MCP to accelerate development Requirements • 8+ years of experience with Java (versions 8–21), Spring Framework and Spring Boot • 8+ years in Web Application Development, REST APIs and Web Services • 5+ years of experience with Messaging Queues and Caching (Kafka, Redis or equivalent) • 5+ years of experience with Angular 21, TypeScript, HTML5 and CSS3 • 8+ years of experience with Relational Databases (Oracle preferred) • 5+ years of experience with JUnit and Playwright • 1+ year of experience using AI tools, Prompts, Skills and MCP • 5+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
