About the Role We are looking for a Java Developer to join American Express. This role focuses on developing and maintaining Java backend services that support consumer dining experiences. Key Responsibilities • Develop and maintain Java backend services supporting consumer dining experiences • Build and integrate APIs with internal platforms and downstream services • Contribute to Mobile Backend for Frontend (BFF) services • Work with gRPC services and Protocol Buffer contracts for iOS and Android applications • Implement data transformation, validation, localization and error handling • Write unit, service and integration tests • Troubleshoot issues across consumer applications and backend systems • Collaborate with mobile, web, backend, product, design and QA teams Requirements • 6+ years of hands-on professional Java development experience • Strong understanding of Core Java and Object-Oriented Programming • Experience with Backend Services and REST API Development • Proficiency in JUnit, Mockito and Automated Testing • Experience with Git, Pull Requests and Code Reviews • Knowledge of Microservices and Backend System Integration • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
