About the Role We are looking for an experienced Lead Developer with strong technical leadership skills and expertise in Python, AWS, PostgreSQL, and GraphQL. This role requires significant experience in engineering team leadership and working with federal healthcare IT environments. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement RESTful APIs using GraphQL • Lead code reviews and mentor junior developers • Collaborate with product team on technical requirements • Provide Tier 3 production support and troubleshooting • Implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Requirements • Expert-level Python development • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (Lambda, EC2, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch) • Advanced PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization • Proven experience designing and developing GraphQL APIs • 3+ years of engineering team leadership experience • 10–15 years of overall software engineering experience • Prior or current experience with NIH or its operating divisions/agencies is mandatory • Ability to work onsite in Bethesda, MD, 3 days per week
