About the Role We are looking for a Lead Node.js Engineer to join our team for a long-term contract opportunity. This role involves leading the design, development, and deployment of scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js. Key Responsibilities • Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js • Architect microservices and event-driven systems with an emphasis on performance, reliability, and security • Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, helping them grow technically • Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, and DevOps to translate requirements into technical solutions • Break down complex projects into clear tasks, estimate effort, and keep delivery on schedule • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, and lead root-cause analysis • Drive improvements to CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and observability • Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and approaches to improve team productivity Requirements • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years of hands-on Node.js development • Prior experience leading or mentoring engineers (tech lead or lead engineer level) • Strong command of JavaScript (ES6+) and/or TypeScript • Experience with frameworks such as Express, NestJS, or Fastify • Solid experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs (GraphQL a plus) • Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis) • Experience with microservices architecture and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS) • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP acceptable) • Experience with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes) • Strong understanding of unit, integration, and automated testing (Jest, Mocha, etc.) • Familiarity with Git workflows and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
