About the Role We are seeking a Network Security Engineer to join National Grid for a 12+ month contract position. This role requires local candidates for onsite work in Liverpool, NY, with a focus on managing and maintaining enterprise-grade network security systems. Key Responsibilities • Manage, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade firewalls and security policies • Configure and troubleshoot routing, switching, and network connectivity • Support multi-site network environments and remote data centers • Perform network vulnerability assessments, security scanning, and remediation activities • Maintain network patching, configuration backups, recovery procedures, and monitoring tools • Perform network hardware installation, rack-and-stack activities, and Cisco IOS upgrades • Monitor network performance, analyze logs, and troubleshoot infrastructure issues • Create and maintain network diagrams, technical documentation, and operational procedures • Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation • Travel up to 25% to support infrastructure projects and remote sites Requirements • 3+ years of hands-on Network Engineering / Network Security experience • Strong experience with Firewall Administration, including rule creation, policy management, and security hardening • Expertise in Routing & Switching, including routers, switches, and network infrastructure • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and Load Balancing • Experience with Network Vulnerability Assessments, Security Scanning, and Remediation • Hands-on experience with Network Monitoring, Syslog, and Log Management • Knowledge of Network Backup & Recovery, Patching, and Configuration Management • Experience with Rack & Stack, Hardware Deployment, and Network Hardware Installation • Experience performing Cisco IOS Upgrades • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio for network diagrams and documentation • Ability to support multiple remote sites and data centers • Experience with NERC CIP is required • Must have a recent project in New York • Must have a valid LinkedIn profile with location updated
