About the Role We are seeking a Senior Application Developer to work on a 12-month contract focused on mainframe and data warehouse modernization. This role requires extensive experience with legacy systems and modernization technologies. Key Responsibilities • Analyze complex legacy applications and understand dependencies • Develop, maintain, and modernize mainframe applications and batch processing jobs • Convert legacy COBOL batch processes and JCL jobs into SQL Server-based solutions • Migrate data from DB2 z/OS to Microsoft SQL Server • Perform code reviews, unit testing, system testing, and defect resolution • Collaborate with technical teams, business analysts, and agency SMEs • Support QA testing, UAT, data validation, and implementation activities • Maintain technical documentation and provide progress updates Requirements • Minimum 7+ years of experience in application development, maintenance, modernization, and system integration across all phases of the SDLC • Minimum 7+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2 z/OS, SQL, batch processing, and system/unit testing • Strong experience developing, maintaining, analyzing, and troubleshooting mainframe applications • Experience with C# .NET application development and modernization • Strong knowledge of relational database concepts, SQL development, query optimization, and DB2 performance tuning • Experience using Azure DevOps for work item management, source control, defect tracking, and documentation • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
