About the Role We are seeking a SQL Database Administrator for a 6-month contract position in Brisbane or Adelaide. This role requires administering and optimizing SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring high availability, and implementing security measures. Key Responsibilities • Administer and optimize SQL Server/PostgreSQL (2017-2022) • Ensure databases are available, fast, and healthy through monitoring, tuning, indexing, and query optimization • Design backup, disaster recovery (DR), and high-availability setups with security built in, including DR testing • Troubleshoot complex issues with application, infrastructure, vendor, and managed service teams • Handle upgrades, automation, and documentation, including runbooks and compliant project work Requirements • Experience with SQL Server and PostgreSQL • Knowledge of backup, DR, and high-availability setups • Strong troubleshooting skills • Experience with automation and documentation • Azure and Databricks experience would be highly regarded
