About the Role HHSC is seeking a hands-on FHIR / HL7 developer to design, build, test, and support healthcare interfaces. This role involves translating business and operational requirements into technical specifications and troubleshooting healthcare data exchange issues. Key Responsibilities • Develop and support healthcare interfaces using HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, JSON, and XML • Map, transform, and validate healthcare data across systems • Diagnose interface failures, resolve data exchange issues, and document error-handling procedures • Work with business and technical teams to define input and output requirements, assess system limitations, and document proposed changes Requirements • 8+ years designing, developing, testing, and supporting healthcare interfaces using HL7 v2, FHIR, REST APIs, JSON, and XML, including data mapping, transformation, validation, troubleshooting, and error handling • Experience with secure healthcare portals or portal-integrated services, including API integration, authentication, authorization, role-based access control, secure coding, testing, and production support • Experience with healthcare terminology standards, including SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, CVX, and RxNorm • Experience with FHIR on AWS or a comparable cloud platform, including integration with ingestion pipelines, storage, analytics, and enterprise data platforms • Experience with Git, automated builds, CI/CD, unit and integration testing, code reviews, defect tracking, logging, monitoring, and documentation
