About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our Device Engineering team at Alarm.com. This role involves hands-on development of embedded firmware for connected security and IoT devices, with technical leadership across embedded platforms and firmware architecture modernization.
Key Responsibilities
- βLead the design, development, and long-term maintenance of embedded firmware for connected security and IoT devices
- βOwn and evolve firmware architectures based on modern RTOS platforms like FreeRTOS and Zephyr
- βDrive complex integrations with third-party devices such as security panels, sensors, and peripheral modules
- βDesign and review device drivers, communication stacks, and application-level firmware
- βAct as a technical leader and mentor for junior and mid-level firmware engineers
- βPartner with cross-functional teams to shape requirements and deliver features
- βLead root-cause analysis for complex system issues
- βDrive improvements to firmware automation, test infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines
Requirements
- β7-8 years of professional experience developing embedded firmware in C/C++
- βDeep hands-on experience with RTOS-based embedded systems
- βStrong understanding of embedded system architecture
- βExtensive experience integrating third-party hardware and vendor SDKs
- βProven ability to debug complex issues using hardware and software tools
- βExperience working across cross-functional teams
- βStrong communication skills
