ABOUT THE ROLE:
As a People Operations Manager (Part-Time), you will be responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the People Team run seamlessly and efficiently, while also helping us improve how we operate.
This role is designed for someone who takes ownership, moves quickly, and is motivated to figure things out without waiting for direction. You will play a critical role in maintaining core People processes across benefits, systems, compliance, and the employee lifecycle, while also identifying opportunities to simplify, streamline, and optimize how work gets done.
We are in an active phase of assessing and evolving our People function at Chief. This role is not just about executing existing processes, it is about helping us evaluate what should be improved, automated, or redesigned over time. You should be someone who is energized by building more efficient systems, reducing manual work, and leveraging technology and AI to improve the employee and team experience.
This role is scoped at approximately 24 hours per week and requires strong judgment, organization, and the ability to operate independently.
WHAT YOUβLL DO:
People Operations Execution & Employee Support
- Own the day-to-day execution of People Operations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and strong follow-through across employee lifecycle processes
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions related to benefits, systems, and general People support, resolving issues efficiently and escalating when needed
- Execute onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a smooth and consistent employee experience
Benefits, Compliance & Core Programs
- Administer benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, COBRA, FSA/HSA, and 401(k), ensuring timely and accurate updates
- Support leave of absence, parental leave, and other employee benefit-related processes and communications
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, coordinating with internal and external partners on reporting, filings, and documentation
- Execute key annual processes such as Open Enrollment and training compliance initiatives
HR Systems, Data & Reporting
- Manage HR systems (ADP, BambooHR), including employee data updates, system workflows, and ongoing maintenance
- Maintain data integrity through regular audits and reporting, and support reporting needs for Finance and leadership
- Oversee ticketing and employee inquiries, ensuring timely responses and resolution
Process Optimization & Systems Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and improve overall efficiency across the People function
- Evaluate current processes and systems, recommending and implementing improvements to simplify and scale how we operate
- Leverage tools, automation, and emerging AI solutions to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and employee experience
- Maintain clear documentation and ensure processes are consistently applied and easy to navigate
WHAT YOUβVE DONE AND ENJOY DOING:
- Proven experience in People Operations, HR administration, or a similar role, ideally in a fast-paced or high-growth environment
- Strong knowledge of HR systems (e.g., ADP, BambooHR) and benefits administration processes
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and take ownership of work from start to finish
- Proven track record of identifying problems and implementing solutions without being asked
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into clear insights and actions
- Experience managing employee data, compliance reporting, and HR operations with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute consistently in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Comfort working with external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless operations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Strong communication skills and the ability to support employees with clarity and professionalism
- A passion for creating efficient processes and supporting a positive employee experience
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
The salary for this role is: $55.00 - $60.00/hr
