About the Role
We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team at Cirrus Logic. This role focuses on building high-performance, reliable firmware for DSP architecture and microcontrollers, working closely with hardware and systems teams to bring products from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
- →Design, implement, and maintain embedded firmware for DSP cores and MCUs (RISC V and/or Arm)
- →Build and optimize real-time signal-processing pipelines
- →Develop firmware using C/C++ with a focus on performance, memory, and power optimization
- →Work with SoC/board peripherals including DMA, timers, SPI, I²C, UART, I²S/TDM, PWM, GPIO
- →Bring up new hardware including boot flows, clocks, memory maps, and peripheral initialization
- →Implement and debug drivers and RTOS components
- →Develop test strategies including unit tests and hardware-in-the-loop tests
- →Use debugging/profiling tools like JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes
- →Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, FPGA/ASIC, systems, and application teams
- →Contribute documentation including architecture notes and bring-up guides
- →Participate in code reviews and help establish best practices
Requirements
- ✓Strong professional experience developing embedded firmware in C/C++ for MCUs and/or DSPs
- ✓Hands-on experience with RISC V and/or Arm architecture
- ✓Solid understanding of embedded software fundamentals including register-level programming and concurrency
- ✓Proven ability to optimize firmware for performance and timing
- ✓Comfortable with toolchains and build systems including GCC/LLVM and CMake
- ✓Strong debugging skills with hardware and firmware
- ✓Source control expertise (Git) and disciplined engineering practices
- ✓This is a hybrid remote position with a 2 day in-office work schedule, based in Newbury or London.
