The Program Manager, Client Relationship Expansion is a hands-on operator responsible for the curriculum, infrastructure, and operational discipline that allow the firm's Relationship Expansion programs to run at scale. This role owns coaching module development, field interaction tracking, Business Insights partnership, and integration of advisor platforms β including Opportunity Engine 2.0 and Aspen β into the program's behavioral framework. The Program Manager is the connective tissue between the field team and the dedicated Business Insights analyst, ensuring that reporting is timely, relevant, and translated into program action. Approximately 75% of this role is program operations and build; 25% is direct collaboration with field team members and cross-functional partners.
Essential Job Functions for this role include:
Curriculum Development & Content Management
β’ Build and maintain coaching modules, advisor field guides, and program playbooks across all four Relationship Expansion offerings β translating The Mercer Way behavioral framework into structured, repeatable learning content.
β’ Own version control and distribution of all program materials; ensure content is current, accurate, and field-ready at all times.
β’ Develop and iterate on advisor-facing tools including conversation frameworks, opportunity one-pagers, and session preparation guides.
β’ Support onboarding content development for M&A-integrated advisors entering the Relationship Expansion programs.
Field Interaction Tracking & Pipeline Support
β’ Manage the record of all advisor and Managing Partner engagements across active markets β session notes, follow-up actions, and outcome tracking β ensuring continuity between touchpoints.
β’ Prepare advisor session briefs for the Senior Director and Director of Field Development ahead of market activation engagements, compiling opportunity data, practice context, and prior session notes.
β’ Maintain engagement logs and pipeline status across all active markets; surface patterns and gaps to the field team on a regular cadence.
β’ Coordinate scheduling and logistics for market activation sessions across all three divisions.
Business Insights Partnership & Reporting
β’ Serve as the primary liaison between the field team and the Business Insights analyst dedicated to SOW and Relationship Expansion reporting.
β’ Define reporting needs with the BI analyst; interpret opportunity data outputs and translate them into actionable intelligence for the Senior Director and Director of Field Development.
β’ Manage delivery of scheduled and ad hoc program reporting β including market engagement health, pipeline volume, conversion tracking, and advisor activity metrics.
β’ Identify where reporting gaps or data quality issues are affecting program decisions and escalate to the BI analyst with clear requirements.
Platform Integration & Tools
β’ Ensure Opportunity Engine 2.0 and Aspen enhancements are connected to the program's behavioral strategies β so platform updates reinforce The Mercer Way rather than create friction against it.
β’ Serve as the program team's point of contact for technology integration questions related to advisor-facing platforms, coordinating with the technology team as needed.
β’ Maintain and iterate HTML-based field tools (intake forms, market view tools, session trackers) used by the field team.
β’ Identify opportunities to improve the advisor and Managing Partner experience through better tool design or platform integration.
Program Improvement & Operations
β’ Capture learnings from field interactions, identify patterns across markets, and drive continuous improvement to program materials and activation approach.
β’ Document program processes and maintain operational runbooks so the program can scale without requiring institutional knowledge held by any single individual.
β’ Support the Senior Director in preparing internal communications, leadership updates, and program performance summaries.
