The Music team owns Spotifyβs end to end proposition for music creators and the experiences they create for fans. The team is dedicated to building tools and services to enable creation, promotion, expression, and monetization at scale.
As an Associate Music Editor (Contract) for South Korea, you will join Spotifyβs Music Editorial team in Seoul to support the daily execution of our music strategy. Your primary focus will be on the operational excellence of our playlist ecosystem, ensuring that our content is timely, trendy, and perfectly aligned with user behavior and real-time data. This role is ideal for a hands-on curator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about managing the day-to-day pulse of the Korean music scene.

What You'll Do
β’ Editorial Operations: Execute the daily and weekly updates for a wide range of Korean playlists (K-Pop, Hip-hop, Indie, etc.), ensuring all tracks are accurately programmed and reflect current trends
β’ Daily Trend Monitoring: Monitor social media, local charts, and music communities to identify viral sounds and emerging artists in real-time, providing immediate input for curation
β’ Performance Maintenance: Regularly track playlist health metrics (skip rates, retention) and assist in making data-driven adjustments to improve user engagement
β’ Content Execution Support: Support the "Creative Format Building" process by implementing audio/video liners and updating playlist metadata (descriptions, covers) to ensure a high-quality user experience
β’ Tastemaker Support: Contribute to social and in-app storytelling by drafting music insights and artist highlights that showcase Spotify's editorial voice to the users
β’ Cross-functional Coordination: Assist Senior Editors in collaborating with Marketing and Artist & Label Partnerships (S&A) to execute localized campaign tactics effectively
β’ Global Programming Support: Assist in gathering assets and local market data required for global pitching and regional programming initiatives
β’ Database & Metadata Management: Ensure all Korean music content is properly tagged and categorized according to Spotifyβs global and local standards.
Who You Are
β’ You have at least 3+ years of experience in the music industry, digital programming, or music curation (e.g., streaming platforms, radio or media networks)
β’ A degree in Music Business, Media, or Communications is highly preferred
β’ You have a solid grasp of the Korean music landscape, with a keen ear for what makes a song "fit" specific moods, moments, and audience segments
β’ You are highly organized and meticulous, with a proven ability to handle high-volume operational tasks with speed and accuracy
β’ You are proficient in written and spoken Korean and have a good working command of English for global communication and documentation
β’ You are comfortable interpreting data and analytics to inform your curation and can adapt quickly to new internal data tools
β’ You are a standout colleague who can adapt to rapid changes in the market and maintain a positive attitude under tight deadlines
β’ Experience working in A&R or Digital Distribution at a label, understanding the lifecycle of music from production to platform
β’ You are proficient with Google Suite and have basic experience with content management tools to handle playlist visual assets
β’ You are proficient in written and spoken Korean and English
