About TEGNA
TEGNA Inc. (NYSE: TGNA) helps people thrive in their local communities by providing the trusted local news and services that matter most. With 64 television stations in 51 U.S. markets, TEGNA reaches more thanβ―100 million people monthly across the web, mobile apps, streaming, and linear television. Together, we are building a sustainable future for local news.
Weβre looking for a Principal Product Manager to define and lead the long-term strategy for TEGNAβs creator experience, the central entry point where newsroom users orient their day, understand what matters now, and move seamlessly into the tools and workflows they need.
The creator experience connects planning, creation, publishing, and performance across TEGNAβs creator tools ecosystem. This role owns the multi-quarter roadmap and long-term vision across web and mobile apps, ensuring it delivers clarity, focus, and momentum for diverse newsroom roles, from reporters and producers to editors and leaders.
You will operate at both strategic and execution levels, shaping multi-year platform direction while guiding cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact capabilities that transform how our newsrooms work.
This role extends beyond a single team. You will influence architectural decisions, investment priorities, and cross-product alignment across the Creator Tools portfolio, ensuring the ecosystem evolves as a cohesive, scalable platform rather than a collection of features.
Who you are
You are a strategic product leader who operates comfortably at both executive and tactical levels. You bring clarity to complex, cross-functional initiatives and align diverse stakeholders around a shared product vision.
You think in systems, not features. You identify leverage points across workflows, data, and platform capabilities to unlock meaningful improvements in efficiency, engagement, and performance.
You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, framing problems that lack clear answers, and making principled trade-offs grounded in user impact, business value, and technical feasibility.
You are deeply user-centered but equally focused on measurable outcomes. You define success clearly, hold teams accountable to impact, and continually raise the bar for product excellence.
Scope of Responsibility
You will define and drive the strategic direction of the Creator Experience ecosystem while directly leading a dedicated, cross-functional scrum team responsible for delivering key capabilities within that platform. You will translate long-term vision into clear quarterly priorities, ensuring day-to-day execution aligns with multi-year platform strategy.
You will own the product roadmap for your area and partner closely with Engineering and Design to deliver high-impact features and platform improvements. This includes maintaining a prioritized backlog, refining epics and user stories, and ensuring sprint work is clearly tied to defined outcomes and measurable impact.
You will operate at both strategic and tactical levels. You will guide discovery efforts, shape architectural and data decisions in partnership with Engineering leadership and proactively identify cross-team dependencies and risks. At the same time, you will stay closely connected to delivery, ensuring clarity of scope, quality of execution, and timely releases.
You will also contribute to portfolio-level planning across Creator Tools, helping align roadmap priorities across adjacent teams and ensuring the ecosystem evolves cohesively rather than as siloed initiatives.
