About the Role We are actively hiring an experienced Akamai Security Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Web Application Firewall (WAF), application security, bot mitigation, API security, and incident response. Key Responsibilities • Lead application onboarding and migration to Akamai WAF, including monitor and deny modes • Tune WAF policies and investigate false positives while minimizing business impact • Analyze WAF, Bot Manager, DDoS, Client Reputation, and API Security events • Support AI/LLM traffic security, API protections, and emerging Akamai AI security capabilities • Troubleshoot production incidents, traffic-routing issues, latency, and application outages • Conduct quarterly WAF policy reviews, platform upgrades, and security assessments • Apply OWASP Top 10 protections, API security best practices, and bot mitigation strategies • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, QA, and security teams • Coordinate with Akamai engineering teams on complex issues and product enhancements • Maintain security dashboards and report on WAF adoption, deny-mode coverage, and threat mitigation Requirements • 5+ years of hands-on Akamai experience • Akamai Kona Site Defender • Akamai Bot Manager • Akamai API Security • OWASP Top 10 • Security incident response • WAF onboarding, policy tuning, and false-positive analysis
