About the Role We are seeking a Data Scientist to lead foundational data strategy, governance, and architecture initiatives in the public sector and transportation technology sectors. This high-visibility consulting role involves establishing a new Data Strategy & Governance function and translating complex business needs into unified enterprise standards. Key Responsibilities • Establish enterprise data practices, standardizing data definitions, data quality, metadata, and lineage across technical and business units • Partner with business owners, application teams, and data engineering groups to define authoritative data sources and establish consistent business rules • Design and promote reusable patterns for data ingestion, transformation, cleansing, and validation using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks • Build and maintain comprehensive inventories of enterprise data assets, data flows, and system relationships across platforms and Power BI reporting solutions Requirements • 3+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise data element standardization, business stakeholder collaboration, data governance implementation, and end-to-end data flow documentation • Candidates must be local to the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill (Triangle region), NC area
