About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer to provide technical leadership and oversee enterprise mainframe infrastructure, focusing on system performance, reliability, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities • Provide technical leadership and oversight for enterprise mainframe infrastructure • Manage third-party vendors and managed service providers, including service levels and performance • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade mainframe system software and utilities • Monitor system performance, operational trends, and infrastructure health • Serve as a senior escalation point for critical production incidents • Coordinate system changes, upgrades, maintenance, and software releases • Support performance optimization, capacity planning, and storage administration • Establish infrastructure standards, governance, and operational best practices • Drive automation and continuous improvement of mainframe operations • Contribute to technology roadmaps, infrastructure strategy, and technical documentation Requirements • 10+ years of enterprise mainframe systems programming experience • Strong knowledge of mainframe operating systems, system software, utilities, and infrastructure • Hands-on experience with system software installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization • Experience managing outsourced mainframe services, vendors, SLAs, and Statements of Work (SOWs) • Strong understanding of ITIL Incident, Problem, and Change Management • Experience with capacity planning, storage administration, and infrastructure governance • Proven technical leadership and complex problem-solving skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field required • Master’s degree or advanced education is a plus
