About the Role
We are seeking a Power BI Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. This is a 6+ month contract role focused on developing and maintaining enterprise-grade Power BI solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models
• Build intuitive interactive visualizations that translate complex datasets into actionable business insights
• Develop advanced DAX calculations and business logic
• Use Power Query / M for data transformation, cleansing, and preparation
• Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and data-access controls
• Design efficient star/snowflake schemas and dimensional models
• Develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and integrate data from various sources
Requirements
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
• Advanced proficiency in DAX, Power Query / M, SQL, semantic models, relationships, filter context, security, refresh strategies, and performance optimization
• Experience with Power BI REST APIs, Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, and Microsoft Fabric
• Strong SQL skills including complex queries, stored procedures, views, and transformation logic
• Understanding of data warehouses, dimensional modeling, data lakes, and lakehouse architectures
• Hands-on experience with Python / PySpark and cloud-native data services
• Experience with at least one major cloud data ecosystem, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and related technologies
• Git/version control and CI/CD concepts using Azure DevOps / GitHub
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, stakeholder-management, requirements-gathering, and documentation skills
