About the Role We are looking for a Python Developer to join Amtrak for a 6+ month contract. This role requires extensive experience in Python development and working with various technologies. Key Responsibilities • Develop and maintain Python applications • Work with FastAPI and REST API development • Optimize database performance with PostgreSQL • Implement automated testing with PyTest • Utilize Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps for CI/CD • Design and implement complex business rules and calculation engines • Ensure production deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting Requirements • 8+ years of hands-on Python Development experience • Strong experience with FastAPI and REST API development • Proficiency in PostgreSQL, SQL, and database performance optimization • Experience with Pydantic, PyTest, and automated testing • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines • Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and modular architecture • Experience with AI / Generative AI automation and developer productivity tools • Ability to implement complex business rules, formulas, and calculation engines Benefits • Opportunity to work on challenging projects with Amtrak • Contract position with potential for extension
