About the Role We are looking for an experienced Resident Engineer – Optical Networking to provide technical support for Nokia optical transport infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting complex network issues and maintaining reliable telecommunications services. Key Responsibilities • Support, troubleshoot, and maintain Nokia 1830 PSS optical transport platforms • Use Nokia WaveSuite NOC for network monitoring, alarm analysis, fault management, and troubleshooting • Diagnose and resolve optical network failures, service disruptions, and performance issues • Perform fault isolation, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning • Support optical network provisioning, configuration, testing, and service activation • Collaborate with customer engineering, operations, and technical teams to resolve incidents • Document incidents, troubleshooting activities, configurations, and technical procedures • Recommend improvements to network reliability and prevent recurring issues Requirements • Strong experience in optical transport networking and telecommunications • Mandatory: Hands-on experience with Nokia 1830 PSS • Mandatory: Working knowledge of Nokia WaveSuite NOC • Experience with optical network monitoring, alarm management, fault isolation, and troubleshooting • Understanding of optical transport architecture and service delivery • Experience supporting live production networks and customer-impacting incidents • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills • Must currently reside in the United States and be able to work remotely from a dedicated home office Preferred Qualifications • Experience with DWDM, ROADM, OTN, and optical transmission technologies • Experience supporting large-scale carrier or telecommunications service-provider networks • Knowledge of optical service provisioning, performance monitoring, and fault management • Experience working directly with customer engineering and network operations teams
