About the Role We are looking for a Rust Software Engineer to join a funded startup building a data lake platform with a strong open-source focus. This role involves working on performance-critical parts of the team's Rust query engine and solving challenging problems in distributed systems. Key Responsibilities • Build an open-source query router in Rust that decides which analytical engine should run each query and returns results in Apache Arrow format • Develop performance-critical parts of the team's own Rust query engine • Solve challenging problems in distributed systems, query performance, and large-scale data processing Requirements • Substantial hands-on Rust development experience • Strong software engineering skills and an interest in query engines, analytical systems, or data infrastructure • Data lake or lakehouse experience, including Apache Iceberg • Familiarity with DataFusion, Arrow, Spark, or StarRocks • English B2+
