About the Role
We are looking for a Social Design Lead β Templates to join our Content Studio team at Canva. You will shape how millions of users create social-first content inside Canva, designing systems, storytelling structures, and trend-driven templates that empower everyday creators.
Key Responsibilities
- βDesigning short-form, social-first templates for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
- βTranslating global design and social media trends into usable, customisable Canva templates
- βBuilding repeatable storytelling frameworks β hooks, transitions, pacing, and visual sequences
- βCreating motion-aware, mobile-first design systems that balance craft, scalability, and performance
- βCollaborating closely with Content Studio, Product, and Video teams to showcase Canvaβs latest editing and video capabilities
- βContributing to trend forecasting, creative reviews, and experimentation across video, motion, and AI-assisted content
Requirements
- βStrong graphic design experience with a portfolio demonstrating high craft across digital and motion-based formats
- βDeep understanding of global design and social media trends
- βExcellent social media fluency and understanding of platform behaviours, storytelling patterns, and audience psychology
- βConfidence in designing for video, motion, and mobile-first formats
- βAbility to turn cultural trends into scalable template systems that non-experts can easily customise
