About the Role
We are looking for a Finance Operations Lead to own and run Distyl’s core accounting and finance operations as the company continues to scale. This hands-on role requires a strong accounting foundation and prior startup experience to ensure accurate books, disciplined financial processes, and reliable outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- →Own monthly close execution end-to-end, including journal entries, reconciliations, cutoffs, and balance sheet integrity
- →Apply strong accounting judgment to complex transactions and flag issues early
- →Maintain high standards for documentation, reconciliations, and internal controls
- →Perform monthly variance and trend analysis, investigating changes and their implications
- →Translate financial results into clear operational explanations for leadership
- →Own day-to-day billing, collections, and revenue recognition execution
- →Build, document, and improve close workflows with scalability and audit readiness in mind
- →Support cash management, forecasting, and operational reporting
- →Help build audit readiness by drafting GAAP accounting policies and strengthening controls
- →Identify process gaps and implement solutions across finance operations
Requirements
- ✓5–8 years of experience in accounting or finance operations
- ✓Firm accounting foundation through public accounting, audit, or structured in-house environment
- ✓Prior experience at a startup or high-growth company
- ✓Strong command of accounting fundamentals and close mechanics
- ✓Operator-minded with ownership and accountability
- ✓Analytical skills to identify patterns and explain drivers
- ✓Ability to evaluate ambiguity and form sound conclusions
- ✓Detail-oriented with a balance of rigor and speed
- ✓Clear communication skills
- ✓Exposure to AP, procurement, or vendor management workflows a plus
- ✓CPA preferred but not required
