About the Role
Turner & Townsend Heery is seeking a Design Manager responsible for overseeing medium to large sized school projects in Los Angeles. This role involves managing the design process from conception to final approval, ensuring compliance with standards, and coordinating with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- →Plans, organizes, and directs design activities for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects
- →Manages and coordinates the District’s design process to ensure plans meet functional, budgetary, environmental, and legal requirements
- →Oversees the building design process to ensure compliance with LAUSD’s standards and guidelines
- →Establishes and follows processes for selecting architectural firms and conducting design reviews
- →Ensures timely decision-making and proper documentation of all project steps
- →Reviews design changes to maintain project budget
- →Coordinates project activities with various District departments and external stakeholders
- →Develops continuing education opportunities for staff
- →Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- ✓Experience in managing medium to large sized school projects
- ✓Strong understanding of design standards and compliance requirements
- ✓Ability to coordinate with architects, consultants, and District personnel
- ✓Experience working with the Division of State Architects (DSA)
- ✓Knowledge of LAUSD’s standards and guidelines
- ✓Excellent organizational and communication skills
- ✓Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
