About the Role We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in Washington D.C. This role focuses on building and supporting distributed, high-availability production systems. Key Responsibilities • Design and implement RESTful APIs • Lead code reviews and mentor junior developers • Collaborate with product team on technical requirements • Manage automated deployments using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, and CloudFormation • Conduct automated unit and integration testing using JUnit and Mockito Requirements • 10+ years of professional backend software engineering experience • Advanced, hands-on proficiency in Java (Java 17+), Spring Boot, and Python • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services including ECS, Fargate, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Lambda, S3, and CloudWatch • Strong relational database background with PostgreSQL / Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and tuning • Practical experience with CI/CD and IaC tools • Demonstrated proficiency with automated testing frameworks
